Back in August, I had a request to review DeviantArt's policies. The requester was concerned that "They don't give a cut off date for how long they can use your images for promotional material for their site." It's been a few months since I had time to read their boilerplates thoroughly, so I'm not sure whether what is available now was available in August.
The DeviantArt Terms of Service contains what you might expect in terms of a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use the submitted work and how you can report copyright violations. Their Submission Policy is where they outline the agreement for removal of images. It can be assumed that DeviantArt, through the language of these agreements, can use your submitted images on their site until you remove them.
In searching for information about removing images from DeviantArt, I found a blog entry challenging the removal of images by DeviantArt without notice, but nothing on what is involved for removing your own images.
If you had an experience with trying to remove some/all of your images from DeviantArt, I would love to hear them (good or bad)! You can create an account and post to the forum, or contact me directly.
