Internet Theft

I belong to Redbubble where my art is posted. I recently became aware that it was being posted (without my knowledge or permission) on a site called PIXDAUS. An e-mail was immediately sent demanding that the images be removed within 24 hours or they would face legal action. The images were removed.

Apparantly, anyone can upload anything to this site. The return e-mail from them assured me that any members who upload work with someone else's copyright would be dropped from the site. Not that anyone ever checks. The Orphan Works Bill is going to do us all in - but that's another story.

There are a couple of other sites, PARPREE, and SMASHING MAGAZINE that do the same sort of thing. They provide places where anyone can and upload a picture they "like" for the world to see and copy. I am still investigating exactly how they were taken from Redbubble.

Just a heads-up.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks for the heads-up! Unfortunately, few image-hosting sites monitor posted content for legitimate ownership.

Internet Theft

Just a heads-up that there is a woman, VILI VITSKA, who is apparently taking photos and art from the internet, posting them elsewhere, and claiming them as her own for sale. She placed some of these on Photobucket but as of today, it appears that account has been closed or suspended.

It is impossible to stop this entirely or check the millions of sites where art and photos are used or displayed but if we all keep aware, we can stop some of it.
