I saw that many people have been targeted as the vulnerable artists they/ we are for online scams. I had never experienced this, until out of the blue 'Susan Cutter' from London/ Alabama contacted me about 'creative artworks' on the Artists Space website. I've had the same 'creative artworks' on the Artists Space website for years and have not gotten much response, so I was rather surprised! A few emails later, it sounded incredibly fishy and fraudulent, and sure enough, on this website I found the exact emails I had received, only under the name 'Tina Brown.' Have people contacted Artists Space about this happening?

Artists Space
Hi, Jake, and welcome to the site.
It looks like Artists Space is aware of the issue, and has posted an advisory notice on their web forum. In fact, the only thing on their web forum seems to be similar notices. Sadly, most artists who are eager to sell work won't know to be wary of this type of scam unless they already know about it... and they will be unlikely to know about it unless they have been told by a colleague or came across it in a web forum.
I'm glad the website helped to prevent you from getting scammed. Feel free to post the chain of emails here. You could also send it to me and I can post it in the main portion of the website (removing your email address and other particulars, of course). I'm reachable through the contact link on the right.
Cheers.
Julianna
